The Cubus Stools are an evolving series of seating design objects crafted from reclaimed steel rods, waste materials sourced from construction sites across Rotterdam (NL).
Each stool carries the physical remnants of the city’s constant transformation.

The project revolves around a fundamental question: How will our approach to materials change once we no longer have access to virgin resources? Gaia explores the shifting landscape of the material world, challenging the conventional supply chains and exploring the potential of what is typically considered waste.

Having a deep appreciation for raw metals, Gaia investigates not only the material’s potentials, but also its origins. This reflects a growing curiosity about material lifecycles, questioning not only how we use them but also the environmental and ethical implications of their scarcity.

The Cubus stool is a conversation piece incorporating themes of sustainability, material consciousness, and the evolving story of urban spaces.
